EU Framework Program "WebSand" launched to secure the Web

partners from research and industry, the Institute of IT-Security and Security
Law of Passau
University has launched the “WebSand” project, which is funded by
the European Commission’s 7th Framework Program for Research and
Technological Development. The joint project, which will run for three years,
is aimed at facilitating the creation of secure Web applications and will thus
protect both browsers and users from misuse. The University of Passau
(Germany), the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) and the Chalmers
University of Technology (Sweden) are partnered on the industrial side by Siemens

New Professor at the Chair of Public Law, IT Law and Legal Informatics

Hornung takes over the professorship for Public Law, IT Law and Legal Informatics. In his last job he was Managing Director of the project group for the design of constitution compatible techniques (provet) at Kassel University where he received his doctor's degree in 2005 for a topic dealing with the legal consequences of the steadily faster technology change. SkIDentity – Trusted Identities for the Cloud: Research Award for the ISL
10-03-2011 14:41 by Marita GüngerichThe new Chair of Public Law, IT-Law and Legal Informatics at the ISL is part of SkIDentity, a research project which was awarded one of the research prices within the “Trusted Cloud” programme of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. At this year’s CeBIT, 12 out of 116 applications were chosen to undertake research activities for secure cloud computing in the next three years. SkIDentity aims at bridging the gap between secure eIDs, such as the new German ID card, and cloud computing infrastructures. Read more
New Junior Professor for Security in Information Systems at ISL

Dr. Hans Peter Reiser was born in Passau and has recently been working at the University of Lisbon. One focus of his research work is the security in information systems. Read more

On Thursday, April 29 and Friday, April 30 the 5th International ReH..Mo Symposium of Passau University took place in the Redoute in Passau. Web Security was the major issue of all lectures.
Especially juveniles publish more and more private data in the web. The problem is that future employers can revert to these data and use them as a reason for rejection.
Furthermore, the symposium should create more awareness and provide more security in using social networks. Please see more information on TRP1
4,6 million euros for IT-security in Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate

Expansion of research, user consultation, user training and education are the focus of IT security skills partnership in Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate The European Union supports the joint project of the Universities of Passau and Regensburg and the college of Regensburg within the scope of the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDF), with 2.3 million euros. PöhlsThe Bavarian Minister of Science, Dr. Thomas Goppel, has promised just over 7 million euros for eight technology projects on Bavarian universities from the European Fund for Regional Development (Europäischer Fonds für regionale Entwicklung - EFRE). The University of Passau could score with their applied projects: From Passau executed or managed projects will receive a total of 2.6 million euros.
